It’s time to make your running plans for 2018. Registration for the 11th running of the Door County Half Marathon and Nicolet Bay 5k opens Oct. 1, 2017.
Register by Oct. 31 to save $20 on race-day registration and join 2,700 running friends at the starting line Saturday, May 5, 2018.
The race is a favorite of runners throughout the Midwest and beyond, with a United States Track & Field-certified course that has been hailed by running press as one of the best half marathon routes in the country.
Runners pass historic landmarks, peaceful forests, and take in dramatic views of Lake Michigan from atop the Niagara Escarpment, all on a closed road course through iconic Peninsula State Park.
Each half marathon participant goes home with a beautiful finisher’s medal, long-sleeve race shirt, and the pride of conquering the Sven’s Bluff and 13.1 beautiful miles in the park. Runners in the Nicolet Bay 5k get a big race experience in a boutique event, with views of Horseshoe Island, Eagle Bluff Lighthouse, and Ephraim on their way to the finish line and a great race t-shirt.
Finishers of both of the May 5, 2018 races enjoy a free beer from Door County Brewing Co. and live music at the finish line, plus a post-race party in Sister Bay to follow.
Runners can also use the race to support their favorite Door County cause in the Run For A Cause program, which has helped raise more than $120,000 for local charities. Runners get a free entry to the race when they raise at least $250 for a local charity.
