For 48 years, the Jacksonport Women’s Club has served the Jacksonport community through volunteering, fundraising, and awareness efforts. Their work has helped fund the Jacksonport Fire Department, scholarship programs, Sevastopol School programs, reading, town beautification, Christmas decorations and much more.
“I think all the volunteers who have worked the past few years at the finish line aid station would agree that it’s very rewarding to serve those finishing the race,” says Women’s Club member and Door County Half Marathon volunteer Lannie Kufrin. “We are amazed at the many runners who take time to actually thank us for being there to help out!”
Course Director Myles Dannhausen says the club gives him peace of mind on race day.
“The Jacksonport Women’s Club is a great crew to work with that has been helping us for several years at one of the most important aid stations we have,” Dannhausen says. “They greet our runners with smiles and congratulations all day, treating each like they were the only runner in the race. And they truly care about making sure each runner gets everything they need.”
The mission statement of the Jacksonport Women’s Club Inc., is to establish and promote a women‘s club that will support and participate in activities and events for the improvement and betterment of the Jacksonport area community.
