Door County wouldn’t be what it is without Peninsula State Park, and the park wouldn’t be what it is without the dedicated people from the Friends of Peninsula State Park.
In an era of tight budgets, the friends group helps maintain trails, keep amenities available, expand services, and raise funds for the park.
The Friends of Peninsula State Park is a non-profit organization dedicated to the interpretive, historical, educational and visitor service programs of Peninsula State Park. The group provides volunteers and financial assistance to support the many events, programs and activities in the Park, with a goal to preserve and enhance the value of our Park’s natural and recreational resources for everyone to enjoy.
Since 2011, the Friends of Peninsula State Park have played a crucial role in the Door County Half Marathon, aiding in traffic control, welcoming runners, manning aid stations, and much more.
“It’s hard to imagine putting this race on without their support,” says course director Myles Dannhausen. “As someone who uses the trails of this park every time I’m here, I can’t thank them enough for what they do all year.”
